Cambridge Health Alliance Joins Bipolar Action Network to Advance Treatment and Research for Bipolar Disorder

The Bipolar Action Network is pleased to announce that the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) has joined its growing nationwide network of patients, families, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare centers dedicated to improving care and advancing research for people living with bipolar disorder.

Participating care centers include Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Dauten Family Center for Bipolar Treatment Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Eliot Community Human Services, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Indiana University Health, Northwestern University, and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Cambridge Health Alliance to our network. Their leadership and expertise in community mental health care will be invaluable to this network as we work together to raise the standard of care for people living with bipolar disorder,” said Andy Nierenberg, MD, Director of Bipolar Action Network. “We are committed to ensuring that diverse patient perspectives and experiences help shape the research, treatment, and care innovations being led by our network.”

As part of the network, CHA will collaborate with a diverse community of experts, including patients living with bipolar disorder, on multi-site learning initiatives and contribute to patient-centered research and quality improvement projects. CHA will help expand and contribute to a shared patient-data registry that informs clinical studies, accelerates research, and supports the development of more novel treatments for bipolar disorder.

“This partnership is a tremendous opportunity for us to learn not only from like-minded healthcare institutions about the latest innovative treatments and care models, but also from patients themselves whose insights are critical to developing more effective, personalized approaches to bipolar care.” said Carl Fulwiler, MD, PhD, Chief and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance.
